"My youngest child had just turned one when we purchased our OBB franchise. I was looking for a business opportunity that would allow me the freedom to be at home with my children. "Having had several small businesses before THE original basket boutique, I was not too keen to work for somebody else when we moved to Vancouver. When I saw a gift basket company for sale, I thought, "What a great idea!" When I found out it was franchise, I was not sure that I wanted to be part of a franchise, but I have now been an original basket boutique franchisee for over 15 years, so I guess it turned out not to be such a bad idea. When I started in the business it was a very small local concern. I have seen THE original basket boutique grow from a small operation to the world wide operation it is now. Until you are in the business you don’t realize how much work is involved in starting a gift basket business. Zora and Patrick over the time have developed systems and programs that if you follow, you can not only be successful, but very successful. From the beginning you are supported: with a four-day training, webinars, to meetings when the franchisees get together and exchange ideas, and successes. Although you are an independent you are also part of a bigger picture. Being part of THE original basket boutique has afforded me to have a business where I can be creative and have fun, but also know that there is another original basket boutique not far away that I can call upon just to talk to or refer a basket request. This is very reassuring. Even though I am a one man band, it also allows me the opportunity to take a vacation and I know that one of the other original basket boutique’s will be there and my business is not going to suffer. Therefore my clients will be serviced in the same manner that they are accustomed to. Zora and Patrick have worked very hard to achieve the success that THE original basket boutique has achieved and are always coming up with new ideas and ways to improve things.
